About the programme

The FLoC’18 volunteer programme is an ideal opportunity for graduate students and postdocs to participate in the conferences and workshops whilst helping with the running of the event.

FLoC’18 volunteers will be able to interact with speakers and participants, network with other researchers and meet graduate students from all over the world. FLoC 2018 will offer the following two types of generous financial support for volunteers, which cannot be taken up simultaneously:

  • Travel stipend (a variable amount towards travel costs for graduate students depending on the origin of travel), in return for 1 day of volunteering. Students will need to pay the registration fee.

OR

  • Free registration (which includes lunch, refreshments and reception) for the main conference (4 days) or workshop (1-3 days), in return for 50% time volunteering.

Opportunities

There will be a variety of tasks you can help us with, such as helping at the registration desk, assisting with the audio-visual equipment across the different venues, giving directions to venues, providing information to conference/workshop participants, helping with traffic flow, general assistance to keep the conference running smoothly, or engaging with social media about FLoC. Tasks will be allocated where possible based on preferences. You will receive training and will be supervised and supported by members of the FLoC organising team.
